What do you do when it doesn’t go to plan?

Sunday cross country

Fuelling up

Getting motivated

Standing on the start line

Lets goooooo

Things dont always go to plan

After the last video of the boys running my son dropped out with pain in his heels.

I spent 3 minutes not talking 😂

As we had prepared

He had earned his spot

I had planned all the nutrition and implement it with impeccable timing i may add!

Not to mention got all 3 kids out, drove 5 hour round trip to the meet.

And spent £50 in desiel

I may have also cried a little inside 😭

The reality was he had slept at his friends the night before, he had had zero sleep, he didnt actually want to run and he was running against lads 1 year older!

Were the signs all there?

Should i have stopped him going to his friends sleep over?

Should he have stayed home got an early night?

Should i have never made him do it?

Was it all good experience anyway?

I dont bloody know.

All i do know is i’m out here trying to facilitate excellence in every which way.

And although i wanted to scream when he came off the course crying.

I got my shit together and picked him up and moved on.

He is 11 and i will always provide for him the best i can but some days we just need to move.

What I do know is that my son puts in 110% and does so much, I’m so so proud of him each and everyday and just know that he’s absolutely smashing life 💪🏻

Yes it was experience and yes me and him probs did loads wrong.

But we are healthy and we will file it as experiance 🤍

You got this Leonidas, the best is yet to come 🙏🏻

As parents raising young athletes and kids in general we are simply learning on the spot.
